The roundtables will help to define the scope and possible substantive focus of PolyCIVIS in supporting institutional learning on Euro-African cooperation on climate, environment and energy in the context of the polycrisis. Given that the relevant European and African institutional and policy frameworks are still nascent and evolving rapidly, it will be important for PolyCIVIS to maintain a strong focus on how both continents are confronting these challenges in practice (rather than on paper).
Agora Fora aim to bridge the distance between research and practices surrounding European and African policy-making. They consist of a facilitated inter-sectoral dialogue between researchers and practitioners. Over the course of a two-hour long open debate under Chatham House rule, academic experts, public officials and civil society experts will discuss the environmental dimension of the polycrisis and related “polysolutions”. The Agora Forum in Dakar will also provide the occasion for a hybrid event, launching a policy brief on climate-induced migration.
